Donation & Buyback Program

We love giving pre-loved books a new home. To keep our shelves curated, cozy, and enjoyable for everyone, we follow the guidelines below when accepting used books.

📚 What We Accept

We accept gently used books that are:

  • Clean and in good condition

  • Free of mold, mildew, smoke, or strong odors

  • Complete (no missing or loose pages)

  • Free of excessive writing, highlighting, or damage

We are especially interested in:

  • Popular fiction & BookTok favourites

  • Children’s and young adult books

  • Fantasy, romance, mystery, and cozy reads

  • Timeless or evergreen titles

🚫 What We Don’t Accept

To maintain quality for our customers, we are unable to accept:

  • Moldy, damp, or strongly scented books

  • Heavily damaged, torn, or water-stained books

  • Textbooks, encyclopedias, or outdated reference materials

  • Magazines or mass-produced free publications

  • Items we already have in excess stock

💰 Buying Used Books

For books we choose to purchase:

  • We typically pay 20–30% of the resale price

  • Prices are based on:

    • Condition

    • Demand in our store

    • Current market pricing

Not all books brought in will be purchased, and that’s okay — selection is based on what our customers are currently looking for.

❤️ Book Donations

We are always grateful for donations.

  • Donated books help support our small, local business

  • Some may be sold in-store, while others may be:

    • Used for community initiatives

    • Given to local programs

    • Recycled responsibly if unsuitable for sale

Please note: donated items are not guaranteed to be sold.

⏳ Drop-Offs & Review Process

  • Customers are welcome to leave books with us for review

  • Our team will assess books based on:

    • Condition

    • Current demand

    • Inventory needs

  • Once reviewed, we will:

    • Let you know which books we are keeping

    • Return any books we are unable to accept

    • Confirm the amount of store credit you will receive

  • Review times may vary depending on volume and store traffic, and we appreciate your patience

  • All final decisions are made at staff discretion

☕ A Friendly Reminder

We carefully curate our shelves to create a welcoming, high-quality experience. Declining a book is never personal — it’s simply about fit, condition, and demand.

Thank you for helping us keep Next Chapter Leduc cozy, thoughtful, and community-focused.
