USED BOOK BUYING POLICY
At Next Chapter Books, we carefully curate our inventory to keep our shelves fresh, exciting, and community-focused. Due to high demand and limited space, we selectively purchase books based on condition, popularity, current inventory levels, and resale potential.
USED BOOK BUYING HOURS
We currently accept used book drop-offs during the following times only:
• Wednesday: 11:00 AM – 2:00 PM
• Friday: 11:00 AM – 2:00 PM
Please note that books may not be reviewed immediately at drop-off.
WHAT WE’RE CURRENTLY LOOKING FOR
We primarily purchase:
• Romance
• Dark Romance
• Thriller
• Fantasy & Romantasy
• Popular Fiction
• BookTok Titles
• Special & Collector Editions
• Pristine Kids Books
We generally prioritize books published in 2015 or newer, though exceptions may be made for high-demand, collectible, or specialty titles.
WHAT WE DO NOT ACCEPT
We are unable to accept:
• Damaged books
• Water-damaged or moldy books
• Smoky or heavily scented books
• Textbooks
• Encyclopedias
• Reader's Digest collections
• Excessively worn mass market paperbacks
• Outdated nonfiction/fiction
• Large quantities of duplicate titles
• Most older hardcover bestsellers that were mass-produced and remain readily available in the used market
• Large collections of legacy authors whose titles have been in continuous publication for decades and are currently oversupplied in our inventory
• Books that do not align with our current inventory focus on contemporary, trending, and high-demand titles

Exceptions may be made for recent releases, special editions, collector's editions, or titles with demonstrated customer demand.
HOW OUR BUYING PROCESS WORKS
Due to overwhelming community support, all book purchases are handled through our drop-off intake system.
DROP-OFF GUIDELINES
• Maximum 25 books or 1 tote per drop-off
• Larger collections are by appointment only
• Books are evaluated during designated intake periods
• Please allow approximately 2–5 business days for review
• Not all books will be accepted
Once your books have been reviewed, we will contact you with an offer.
PURCHASING OPTIONS
STORE CREDIT (STANDARD OFFER)
Accepted books are eligible for store credit valued at approximately 40% of our anticipated resale price.
Store credit may be used on:
• Used books
• Café items
• Merchandise
Store credit never expires.
LIMITED CASH PURCHASES
Cash purchases are limited and offered solely at management discretion based on inventory needs, title demand, and current purchasing budgets.
When offered, cash purchases are valued at approximately 30% of our anticipated resale price.
Cash offers are not guaranteed and may not be available at all times.
ADDITIONAL NOTES
• We reserve the right to decline any books for any reason.
• Acceptance is based on condition, demand, inventory levels, and store needs.
• Abusive, threatening, or disrespectful behavior toward staff will result in refusal of service and future buying privileges.
UNCLAIMED BOOKS
Books declined for purchase must be picked up within 3 days of contact. Items left beyond this period become property of Next Chapter Books and may be donated or resold.
